Steamy weather conditions Friday morning didn’t stop area runners from flocking to the Mt. Lake Golf Course for one of the first big cross country meets of the season. The Paul Metcalf Invitational featured over 15 teams and some of the top teams and runners from the southwest corner of the state. It also included some talented teams coached by Mt. Lake alumni. The big story from the meet was the weather. Humid conditions and rising temperatures prompted the decision to start an hour early, with the humidity making running difficult.
