First win proves elusive
Mt. Lake Area/Comfrey continues its search for its first outright victory of the season after an 0-2-1 performance at the annual Sleepy Eye Tournament. The Wolverines opened the day with a 2-0 loss to Madelia, then followed with a 2-0 loss to Minnesota Valley Lutheran.

Turnovers doom Wolverines in loss
Westbrook-Walnut Grove scored twice in the first half, then added a pair of insurance touchdowns in the second half to claim a 30-0 victory over Mt. Lake Area Friday in Mt. Lake. Five Wolverine turnovers led directly to a pair of Charger touchdowns and halted a couple of drives in WWG territory.

Wolverines compete at Heartland Preview
The Mt. Lake Area cross country team ran alongside some of the best teams in the Upper Midwest Saturday, competing at the Nike Heartland Preview, held at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls. The Wolverine boys finished 18th in the team standings with 445 points. Sioux Falls Washington won the meet with 36 points. The Wolverine girls were 23rd in the team standings with 620 points. Harrisburg (S.D.) won the team title with 44 points.
