Ethel Lillian Wiens, 94, devoted pastor's wife and tireless servant of the Lord, passed away on June 5, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Home in Mountain Lake, MN.
Born April 25, 1931, in Lustre, Montana, to Dietrich M. and Kathrine (Franz) Olfert, Ethel dedicated her life to Christ after accepting Him as her Savior. She attended Lustre Academy, Salem Academy, and Grace Bible Institute, becoming a lifelong student of Scripture, known for her unique acrostic studies and personalized greeting cards.
On June 17, 1952, Ethel married her high school sweetheart, Frank C. Wiens. Together, they raised four children: Judith (Pablo) Perez (Quito, Ecuador), James (Olga) Wiens (Volgograd, Russia), Dr. Glenn (Nancy) Wiens (Grand Forks, ND), and Gary (Susan) Wiens.
As a faithful partner in ministry, Ethel supported her husband in various capacities, including music, teaching, counseling, and writing.
She was a talented musician, playing piano, guitar, trombone, accordion, organ, and marimba. Her engaging missionary stories captivated audiences, and her travels with Frank took them to at least 16 countries. She continued her dedicated service until a stroke on March 2, 2023.
Ethel is survived by her loving husband, children, fourteen grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at Cornerstone Bible Church in Mountain Lake, MN, on July 12, 2025, at 10:00 AM CST.
